Comfy day backpack with waterproof cover *
1 x leggings (for sleeping in & last day)
1 x hiking pants (zip off at knee if possible)
4 x tops to hike in (sweat wicking if possible)
1 x nicer top
1 x long sleeve top (for sleeping in & 2 if you get cold)
1 x fleece *
1 x waterproof coat *
1 x decent rain poncho *
1 x gaiters *
1 x hiking boots/comfy trainers with good grip *
1 x flip flops (your feet will want a break from the hiking boots)
4 pairs of walking socks * (1 pair as spare)
1 pair of normal socks
5 x pants
2 x sports bra
1 x bandana/scarf *
1 x cap (stops sun and rain going in your eyes) *
Sun cream *
Baby wipes
Toilet roll *small amount
Bin bags
Reusable water bottle (preferably a light 1L one that clips on your bag) *
Sleeping bag (can rent there)
Walking poles (can rent there - have to have rubber bottoms) *
Sleeping mat (can rent there)
Travel pillow
Watch (ideally one with an alarm) *
Ultralight/microfibre towel
Sunglasses *
Head torch *
Personal medication (inhalers, pills, knee brace... don’t forgot it! You can’t get a replacement half way up a mountain!) *
Small first aid kit (plasters, anti bac, ibuleve gel, savlon...) *reduced kit
Gaffa tape (something always breaks - wrap it around an old credit card so you don’t have suck a bulky roll) *
Personal entertainment (playing cards, book, music... but you may just want to chat to your new friends)
Purse (carry enough money for tipping, snacks along the way & Machu Picchu treats) *
Camera * & spare batteries
Binoculars (if you want, I personally didn't bring mine)
